The Browns

Challenge
Creative industries tend to showcase polished outcomes while hiding the failures, wrong turns and imperfect decisions behind them. The challenge was to create a platform that acknowledges and celebrates those overlooked moments.
Solution
I created The Browns, a fictional awards ceremony that reverses the logic of traditional recognition systems by putting creative mistakes centre stage. Through branding, event design and communication, the project transforms failure into a shared cultural experience.

A name that sounds institutional at first.
Until you realise what it points to: the parts of the creative process that are usually thrown away.
And here, they become the award.

Subtle adjustments were made to the original typeface to give the logo a stronger character and improve its performance across different formats.
· Tracking was increased to enhance legibility at small sizes, particularly in digital applications.
· Specific letter modifications introduce controlled tension within the composition — such as the slightly expanded spacing in the “O” and the intentional tilt of the “S”.
These imperfections are deliberate, reinforcing the visual language of The Browns, where imbalance and nuance become part of the identity.
TONE OF VOICE
The Browns speaks with irony and complicity.
It doesn’t explain failure… it exposes it.
Direct, everyday language with a subtle edge.
Somewhere between control and chaos.
It doesn’t romanticise mistakes. It simply acknowledges them as inevitable.

To balance humour with credibility, the visual identity borrows the language of traditional award ceremonies while introducing a deliberately irreverent tone.
Bold typography, exaggerated messaging and collectible objects transform creative failure into something surprisingly aspirational.

While The Browns celebrates creative failures, its communication campaign focuses on something even more universal:
the exact moment you realise you've messed up.
The delayed realisation.
The internal scream.
The "please tell me I didn't just do that" moment.
The Emotional Support Object™ is The Browns’ official emotional support item: a golden anti-stress poop designed to be there for you when you've messed up.
Created as the symbol of the event, it transforms creative failure into a physical, shareable and collectible object. Part award, part lucky charm and part emergency companion, it has become one of the most recognisable icons within the world of The Browns.
